At National Safety Partners, we deliver trusted rigging training and certification for California-based employers who need qualified riggers and signal persons on the job. Our programs are designed to help your workforce meet OSHA and ASME standards, reduce jobsite risk, and perform safe, compliant lifts every time.

Whether you’re training new team members or upskilling experienced workers, our signal person safety training ensures your employees are confident, capable, and certified.

What the Rigging and Signal Person Training Covers

Our California rigging training includes both written and hands-on components and covers:

  • Rigging equipment inspection
  • Sling angle calculations and hitch selection
  • Load dynamics and lift planning
  • Fall zone awareness and hazard identification
  • Proper use of rigging hardware and knots
  • Communication and signaling protocols

Participants must pass both a written and practical exam to earn certification.

Certification Levels Offered

There are two primary levels of rigger certification:

  • Rigger Level 1 (Basic): Covers fundamental rigging practices and safety, suitable for those involved in basic rigging operations.
  • Rigger Level 2 (Advanced): Offers more comprehensive training on complex rigging techniques, ideal for those handling more challenging rigging tasks.

Each level includes all required testing and complies with:

  • OSHA 29 CFR 1910.184, 1926.1404, and 1926.1419
  • ASME B30.5 and B30.9 standards

Recertification & Validity

Rigger certifications are typically valid for 2–5 years. We provide full support for recertification, including exam prep, scheduling, and compliance tracking. Rigger Level II recertification also renews Level I credentials.

Training Format Options

  • Onsite, instructor-led training available across California
  • Online courses for exam prep and refresher training
  • Hands-on practical evaluations required for full certification

We recommend combining online and in-person sessions to ensure both knowledge and practical rigging skills are fully developed.
